Find an Affordable Dumpster Rental in Your Area

The cost of renting a dumpster is usually the number one thing people want to know. However, it is not always easy to find the most affordable dumpster rental company. A lot of waste management companies will quote you a low starting price but tack on hidden fees and bogus overages so that by the time you pay your final bill, it is multiple times the initial cost.

That's why you should look for the best company, not the apparent cheapest. You don't want to get hit with outrageous hidden fees when you rent a dumpster, so it's best to look for a company with a transparent pricing structure and a track record of customer satisfaction.

Sourgum Waste provides Totally Transparent Pricing and no hidden fees - ever. Quickly and easily price out your dumpster rental on our website now.

How Much Does a Dumpster Cost to Rent?

Because there are so many variables in waste disposal, such as local laws and area-specific dumping fees, it's impossible to tell someone how much their dumpster rental will cost without specific details about their project. However, it is safe to say that the four factors below will always affect dumpster rental prices.

Different locations accept different types of waste, and they have different fee structures for disposal. How far your waste has to travel to get to the facility and how much it costs to dispose of it will be factored into the cost of your dumpster rental.

Some materials cost less than others to transport and process. Extremely heavy materials like concrete or dirt may even require a concrete dumpster. If you have materials like yard waste that can be recycled, you might also have to rent a dedicated dumpster.

Don't worry - you do not need to figure it out for yourself; our easy online ordering process will identify the best dumpster type for your materials and help you price it out.

Ordering the right size dumpster can be one of the most important parts to get right when you're renting a dumpster and trying to keep the cost down. If you order a dumpster that's too small, your large, bulky items might not fit and you'll have to get a second container. On the other hand, you might underestimate how much waste you want to throw away, and pay for more volume than you need.

Dumpsters come in various sizes which are measured in cubic yards. Here are the most common sizes and their uses:

  • 10 cubic yards: The 10-yard dumpster is best for small home projects and can hold about 4 pickup truck loads of debris.

  • 20 cubic yards: The 20-yard dumpster is best for larger home projects and small construction projects and can hold about 8 pickup truck loads of debris.

  • 30 cubic yards: The 30-yard dumpster is best for major home renovations, bulky furniture, and demolition projects and can hold about 12 pickup truck loads of debris.

  • 40 cubic yards: The 40-yard dumpster is best for large home projects, construction sites, and landscaping projects and can hold about 16 pickup truck loads of debris. Be sure to ask us about our 40-yard dumpsters as they have less availability and are only allowed on certain sites.

Heavier materials cost more to transport. When you order your dumpster, you can select a weight limit. If you go over that weight limit, don't worry you simply the pay overweight fee on a prorated basis. You are always made aware of the overweight fee before purchasing from Sourgum Waste so there is never a surprise on your bill.

Sourgum Waste offers a complimentary rental period. If your project is taking longer than you thought, you can ask for an extension, and you'll be able to extend for a simple daily flat rate.

If you need assistance with any of this decision-making, Sourgum Waste can help you. We have years of experience and completed thousands of projects. Contact us and we will be glad to help!

What You Can Put In a Dumpster Rental

You can't put everything in a dumpster. Some waste materials have to be processed separately, and some materials require special handling. The most common items that people ask about are things like tires, television, mattresses, and refrigerators. Before you put any of those items in a dumpster, make sure that they can go in. Basically, anything that isn't hazardous can technically go in any dumpster. Although depending on your area disposal facilities may charge extra for mattresses, tires, or large appliances.

The local government is working hard to make the Tampa Bay area the top recycling region in Florida with a program called Tampa Bay Recycles. Most cities and towns including St. Peterburg, but also smaller places in Pinellas county offer curbside recycling. We recommend that you do not put any recyclables in your dumpster, but recycle them through your town instead.

If you have too many recyclable items for the curb, please rent a second dumpster so that your waste disposal company can take them to a recycling center, rather than have to dispose of them improperly. If you want to know more about where recycled items go, check out Pinellas County's Where Does it Go? Search Tool to find out where hundreds of materials end up when properly recycled.

How to Fill a Dumpster to Get Your Money's Worth

It's not rocket science, but there are best practices when filling up a dumpster. You need to ensure that all the waste is well below the rim of the dumpster and that the weight is evenly distributed so it's safe to haul. Otherwise, hauling your waste can put people's lives at risk.

    • Large Items on Bottom: Many people think that if they put big, heavy items on top, it will squish everything, and you'll be able to fit more in the dumpster. Unfortunately, this isn't true, and what usually happens is that the large bulky item ends up sticking out above the rim. Start by putting your large items on the bottom and distributing their weight evenly.

    • Fill in the Gaps: Once the big items are in, you can fill in the gaps with smaller waste, like old toys, curtains, and rugs. Try not to create air gaps with flat materials like drywall to maximize the space in the dumpster.

    • Break it Down: Speaking of drywall, it's much easier to fit more in if you break it down, especially for items like kitchen cabinets.

    • Don't Overload Your Dumpster: This is a common mistake. You might be asked to take some of your waste out if you load it over the rim because it has to be safe to travel.

Or, participate in an annual cleanup in Pinellas County, like the Great American Cleanup or the International Coastal Cleanup.
