How Roll Off Dumpster Rental Works

The Dumpster Rental Process in Raleigh, North Carolina

Renting a dumpster in Raleigh is a straightforward process that can be completed in just a few simple steps. Here is an overview of what you can expect:

  1. Determine the size and type of dumpster you need: The first step in renting a dumpster is to determine the size and type of container you need. This will depend on the amount of waste you need to dispose of and the type of waste you have. If you are unsure about what size dumpster you need, our team can help you determine the appropriate size for your project.

  2. Determine the weight limit you need: Each dumpster rental comes with a weight limit (except for specialty dumpsters like concrete bins) which is the maximum amount of weight you are allowed to put in the dumpster. Before ordering your dumpster, you should have a good estimate of the weight limit you'll need for all of your waste. If you need help with this, you can always reach out to our team for help.

  3. Order dumpster and schedule delivery: After you have decided on the dumpster you need, you can order your dumpster via phone or more conveniently, through our online portal. You will need to know how long you wish to keep the dumpster and a good delivery time for the dumpster's drop off. Make sure to provide clear instructions for where you want the dumpster to be placed and ensure there is enough room for the delivery truck to drop it off.

  4. Fill the dumpster: Once the dumpster is delivered, you can start filling it with your waste. Make sure to follow guidelines and restrictions, such as not overfilling the dumpster past the rim or putting in prohibited hazardous items like paint. Also, be sure to fill the dumpster only with the type of waste you chose when ordering the bin.

  5. Schedule pick-up: When you are finished with your project or the dumpster is full, you will need to schedule a pick-up time with us. If you do not schedule a time, we will come on the last day of your rental period. Make sure no obstacles are blocking the dumpster from the street, so we can easily and safely pick up the container.

Dumpsters come in various types and sizes, designed to accommodate different types of waste. Here are some of the most common types of dumpsters:

  1. Concrete Dumpster: Designed for disposing of concrete debris generated during construction or demolition projects, concrete dumpsters are sturdy and built to withstand heavy loads. Ours come with no weight limits, meaning you don't pay more for heavier concrete loads.

  2. Yard Waste Dumpster: Yard waste dumpsters are ideal for disposing of landscaping waste, such as branches, leaves, and grass clippings. These dumpsters are often used for yard cleanups and landscaping projects. These dumpsters have special weight limits since green waste is typically much lighter.

  3. Construction Dumpster: Construction dumpsters are used on construction or home renovation job sites to dispose of construction waste, such as wood, metal, and drywall.

  4. Roofing Dumpster: Roofing dumpsters are designed for disposing of roofing materials, such as shingles and tiles, generated during roofing projects.

  5. Household Junk Dumpster: Household junk dumpsters are versatile and can be used to dispose of various types of household waste, such as old furniture and certain appliances and electronics. These dumpsters are often used during home cleanouts.

For our dumpsters to be safely delivered to your desired drop-off location, there needs to be at least 60 feet of clearance in front of the drop-off point for our trucks to lower the dumpster properly. There also needs to be about 45 feet of vertical clearance space above the location, so no low-hanging branches or other obstacles that will interfere with the truck.

All of our dumpster rentals come with a free two-week rental period, meaning all you pay for is the dumpster itself, not the amount of time you have it. However, if the two weeks are too short for you and you need to get a rental extension, we can provide additional rental days. You will have to pay a low, daily rate for each additional rental day you need the dumpster.

How Much Does It Cost To Rent a Dumpster?

Renting a dumpster is much less expensive than most people think. In Raleigh, dumpster rentals start at $400 dollars but you can't get an accurate quote without more information. Here's what your dumpster rental company needs to know before they can price a dumpster rental for you.

Your location plays a crucial role in determining the cost of dumpster rental services. If you're located far away from the waste facility, it can result in higher transportation costs. Moreover, different waste facilities may have varying fee structures, which can impact the total cost of the service depending on where your waste is disposed of. To ensure fair and transparent pricing, we collaborate only with accredited facilities, thereby eliminating any hidden charges or surprises when it comes to waste disposal fees.

At each waste facility, there are distinct charges applicable to different types of materials. For instance, certain materials like concrete or organic waste require a dedicated dumpster for recycling. It is crucial to take note of the permissible items in your particular dumpster to avoid any contamination fees during the transportation of your waste to the facility.

Why pay for more than what you need when it comes to disposing of leaves, grass clippings, shrubs, and branches? These materials are lighter than most waste, which is why we offer dedicated landscaping dumpsters with specific weight limits. Renting a dumpster for yard waste with the relevant weight limit not only saves you money but also helps us divert organic waste from landfills.

However, heavier and bulkier materials incur more transportation costs, and this is where our concrete dumpsters come in. These dumpsters are not charged by weight limit, ensuring that you get value for your money.

If you're unsure about which dumpster to choose, don't hesitate to ask us about weight limits. We have extensive knowledge and experience from working on thousands of projects and are happy to help.

How Does the Dumpster Drop Off and Pick Up Work?

At Sourgum Waste, ordering a dumpster is convenient and hassle-free. You can easily place your order online or if you prefer, call us at 732-366-9355, or send an email to support@sourgum.com to order your dumpster.

Once your order is placed, your preferred delivery date will be scheduled, and your dumpster will be delivered right to your location. After filling it up, you can call us for pickup, and we'll handle the rest.

It's unlikely you will need a dumpster rental permit, however, it's always a good idea to check to avoid any fines from the city. Typically dumpster rentals are only needed if the dumpster is being placed on public property, like on the street.

To find out if you need a permit for your rental, you can either use our permit look-up tool or visit the Right-of-Way Management page on the City of Raleigh's website.

We understand that timely delivery is crucial for your project, which is why we ensure that your dumpster is delivered on the requested day. To keep you informed, we'll send you alerts with our drop-off ETA. For urgent needs, we also offer same-day or next-day delivery.

To ensure smooth delivery, make sure there is a clear space of at least sixty feet in front of the designated placement area for the dumpster. Additionally, ensure there is at least 23 feet of vertical clearance from wires or tree branches. Before delivery, remove any obstructions and ensure no vehicles are parked in the designated area to avoid any inconvenience.

You don't have to be present at the time of delivery, but if you prefer to be there, you can request a delivery window. Also, you can stay informed about the delivery status by signing up for text alerts that keep you updated about the progress.

After receiving your dumpster, you can start filling it up right away! However, be sure not to fill it beyond the rim, and distribute the load evenly to ensure safe transportation. These guidelines are crucial to prevent any accidents and ensure the safety of everyone involved.

When you're finished loading your dumpster, you can request a pickup by calling us or logging into your customer account. We will also automatically schedule the pickup once your 14-day rental period ends if you don't request a pickup time.

Upon pickup, your dumpster is transported to a dumping station where it is weighed. If your waste is within the weight limit specified in your order, you won't incur any additional charges. However, if you exceeded the weight limit, you will be charged an excess weight fee. We will send you an email notification detailing the charges so that you can have a clear understanding of the total cost.
