Dumpster Rental Process

The first step is figuring out how much material you need to dispose of. That will help you choose the right dumpster size for your project. Check out common reasons to rent a dumpster to help clarify what might apply to your project. If you're disposing of dirt, concrete, asphalt, stumps, or any type of aggregate material, please contact our Customer Support team to ensure you are renting the correct dumpster type.

This table lists every available dumpster size, including dimensions and capacity. “Yard” simply refers to cubic yards, or how much volume the dumpster can hold. For example, a 10-yard dumpster holds 10 cubic yards of material.

How Dumpster Weight Limits Work

Once you’ve selected the right dumpster size, the next thing to understand is the included weight limit. Every rental comes with a standard weight allowance based on the dumpster size and material type.

If you exceed the weight limit, you’ll only pay for the additional weight at the standard prorated disposal rate, often referred to as an overage fee, so the rate is transparent up front. We’ll also share the dump ticket so you can see exactly how the weight was calculated.

Our online order form walks you through the process step by step. If you need help, want to adjust the weight limit, or prefer to order by phone, just give us a call at 732-366-9355.

How Long Can I Rent a Dumpster?

All Sourgum dumpster rentals include a complimentary rental period. If you finish your project early, just let us know. We’ll schedule a pickup at your convenience.

If you need your dumpster for longer than the standard rental period, you can extend it for an affordable daily rate based on your location. Just give us a call, and we’ll help you find the most cost-effective option for your project.

How Much Does a Dumpster Rental Cost?

Dumpster rental pricing depends on a few key factors: the size you choose, your location, the type of waste you’re disposing of, and how long you need the dumpster. Each rental includes delivery, pickup, disposal, and a base weight limit. Our pricing is always fully transparent. If you exceed the limit, you’re charged only for the extra weight—not a flat fee—so pricing stays clear and predictable.

Ordering a Dumpster

Order your dumpster online or by phone, whatever works best for you. Orders submitted online will be reviewed by our team and confirmed as soon as possible.

Same-day delivery may be available. We recommend contacting Customer Support to confirm. Next-business-day delivery is available for orders placed before 12:00 pm EST.

When placing your order, you may request a morning or afternoon delivery preference. Exact times can’t be guaranteed due to routing adjustments or unexpected delays. To help ensure availability, we recommend placing your order at least two business days in advance.

Because early delivery cannot be guaranteed, we suggest having the dumpster delivered the day before if your project starts first thing in the morning. Please note that we do not operate on weekends. Orders placed Saturday or Sunday cannot be guaranteed for Monday delivery, though our dispatch team will do their best to accommodate when possible.

What to Expect on Delivery Day

To deliver your dumpster, the truck needs approximately 60 feet of clear space in front of the desired drop location, along with about 23 feet of vertical clearance to safely place the container. Please make sure the truck’s path is free of obstructions. For example, all vehicles should be moved out of or to the side of the driveway.

Our drivers operate between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. If cars need to be cleared from the driveway, we recommend moving them the night before to avoid any delivery issues.

Because of traffic, changing road conditions, and wait times at disposal sites, we’re unable to guarantee an exact delivery time. If you’d like an ETA on the day of delivery, please reach out to our team that morning. In some cases, we can request a courtesy call from the driver when they’re on the way, though this varies by hauler.

To help ensure efficient placement, we recommend sending a photo of your delivery location in advance. We review your delivery location on Google Maps to make sure we send the right truck for your site. If we have any questions or concerns, we’ll contact you ahead of time to identify the best placement.

Please note that if a delivery cannot be completed due to obstructions or access issues and the driver must return, a trip fee may apply.

You don’t need to be home for delivery.

Loading the Dumpster

When loading your dumpster, please be sure to avoid placing any prohibited items inside. Disposal facilities may charge contamination fees if restricted materials are included. Use our guide on what can and can't go into a dumpster as a helpful reference.

If you ordered a dumpster for yard waste, concrete, or other heavy debris or recycling, please avoid mixing in any trash. These materials go to recycling facilities, and trash can lead to contamination fees.

It’s also important not to fill the dumpster above the top rim. Overfilled dumpsters create safety risks on the road and cannot be picked up. All dumpsters must be able to be fully tarped at pickup. If the tarp can’t be secured, the driver won’t be able to remove the container. This may result in a trip charge, and the dumpster will need to be leveled before we can return for pickup.

If you’re unsure whether your dumpster can be picked up, feel free to send a photo to our Customer Support team, and we’ll be happy to confirm.

Picking Up the Dumpster

When you’re finished with your dumpster and ready for pickup, just let us know. You can request removal by phone, text, email, or through your online portal. We’ll schedule pickup as soon as possible—typically the next business day.

No one needs to be home for pickup. Please make sure the area in front of the dumpster is clear so the truck can access it easily.

Disposal, Weight Checks, and Billing

After your dumpster is picked up, it’s taken to the appropriate disposal facility, where we work to recycle as much material as possible. If you’re curious about how recycling works and what materials can be reused, our simple recycling guide breaks it all down.

At the facility, your dumpster is weighed. If you stayed within your weight limit, you’re all set. If the weight is over, the agreed-upon prorated overage fee will be applied.

For full transparency, we’ll also send you a copy of the dump ticket whenever an overage occurs. You’ll receive your payment receipt—and the dump ticket, if applicable—via email.
